Welcome to International Seminar of SEAMOLEC 2009

Improvement in education sector, both in educational quality and quantity has been the most important concerns of all countries. Quantity of education refers to the coverage of education provision: how many people of the nations can get access to education? How many schools are available, and for whom? Quality issue which covers the quality of human resources, learning material, methods of delivery, should be improved along with quantity.

The rapid changes in information and communication technology (ICT) require teachers to adapt themselves to the new skills that students need. Many students as new generation have been interested in learning about or learning through information technology by themselves. The consequence is that teachers need to learn strategies of integrating ICT into teaching and learning activities, either for the face-to-face meetings or for distance learning. The advancement of ICT can be utilize for partnerships among schools and universities for sharing and exchanging resources, expertises, and cultures. SEAMOLEC has initiated such partnerships among schools and universities in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines. To encourage and share more ideas about such partnerships, SEAMEO SEAMOLEC and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport collaborate to conduct international Seminar titled: Acceleration and Improvement of the Quality and Quantity of Education Through ICT-based School/Universities Partnerships.
